Sydney was alive this weekend with the Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras bringing people together in a sea of glitter, and our favourite Ramsay Street residents were part of the action. As previously reported, in a Neighbours first, the show had a float in the Mardi Gras parade over the weekend, celebrating the diversity and inclusiveness of Ramsay Street. The theme was 'Everyone is Welcome On Ramsay Street', and a new theme tune remix was released to celebrate. Most of the cast were present on the garden party styled float, with crew and Fremantle staff dancing behind. It was one big party and everyone looked like they had an absolutely fantastic night. The float featured briefly on the full parade livestream on Saturday, as well as during the edited televised broadcast on Sunday. Alan Fletcher and Jackie Woodburne were also briefly interviewed as the float passed by the SBS host box. In a lucky coincidence, the float itself, which was number 98 of 197 floats, was right behind the 'Evolution of Dancers' float, with the theme 'We are Golden!', which it paid homage to the Queen of Mardi Gras herself, Kylie Minogue. Kylie was also present at Mardi Gras, although she didn't appear on or seem to initially notice the Neighbours float. The cast and crew also posted MANY Instagram stories of the evening, from their final dance rehearsals in the park, to seeing the finished float for the first time, and then the parade itself. Here's all the snaps that were captured and shared on Saturday evening: |
